PART X – SNOWSHOE-RAD: SURPRISE, SURPRISE!
Did anyone REALLY think that the
proposed ‘Snowshoe
Resort Area District’ (SRAD) was not going to be approved once the
corporate-predators set things in motion?
Snowshoe Mountain, Inc. (SMI), aka, ‘Donald Trump Fortress Hedge Fund’, has been
lobbying for this potential disaster for more than a decade or so by now to
bring ‘CORPORATE
FASCISM’ to Pocahontas County so as to add ‘tourism’ to the other ‘corporate
fascists’ in charge of the oil, gas, coal, timber & other
Natural Resources of West Virginia under private-corporation control! Like it or not, we are all living in a state that puts
PROFITS before PEOPLE!
In fact, for those that can
remember, back in 1976 when John D. ‘Jay’
Rockefeller, IV, was elected governor, shortly thereafter ALL of the Natural Resources of West Virginia ended up in
the hands of approximately ten (10) foreign- corporate-predators that
profited at the expense & blood, sweat & tears of the working people of
West Virginia! Had
the government (i.e., State Legislature) done what has been done in
Western-Canada & Alaska whereby ALL NATURAL RESOURCES belong to the people,
so that EVERY CITIZEN in Alaska gets a dividend-check from $3000 - $5000 EVERY YEAR
for all the Natural Resources sold by public corporations to
private-corporations, etc. – then truly West Virginia would have
prospered as does Western-Canada & Alaska in a system known as, ‘SOCIAL CREDIT’! But instead, the per/capita income of West
Virginia consistently comes in either last place or next to last place,
along with Mississippi out of all 50 States!
But ironic as it may seem, West Virginia does have a similar system to Alaska whereby all Natural Resources exploited by
private-corporations within West
Virginia pays a ‘SEVERANCE-TAX’, i.e., oil, gas, coal, timber,
etc. ‘depletion-tax’
and all those funds go to the respective local school regimes of
each county! The
original idea was to keep property-taxes low in exchange for financing public
education – but within the past quarter of a century, the reality is
that the local school regime simply raises its respective SALARIES at the
expense of teachers, staff, and student programs! Just look at how many ‘salaries’ Alice Irvine collected in the past three decades
claiming to assume various ‘positions’,
etc. – and raising her salaries by almost 10% per/year while laying off
teachers, staff & programs for alleged lack-of-funds! Now the BOE would
like all of us to pay higher-property-taxes via a school-bond come the November
election while they enjoy their collective-riches & pay-raises at our
expense!
But getting back to the SNOWSHOE –
RAD, at the First Public Hearing it was announced that
521 signatures OPPOSED the RAD while only 471 was necessary! Then we were told that a mysterious ‘SOMEBODY’ miscounted and that NOW there were only 443 OPPOSED and that 458 was necessary –
or 15 less than necessary to OPPOSE the RAD for another year! Wow!
What a turnaround in less than two weeks!
Prior to the First Public Meeting,
CEO Frank DeBerry said,
“The
last total, that I saw two weeks ago, that I had verified and validated,
there were 238 petitions against, at the time, and about 185 petitions for.” Now for this final
vote, they needed to acquire the services of a professional accountant, who
probably used the ‘new math system’, and BEHOLD, a whole new total comes into
play! Meanwhile out of 1829 qualified
property-owner-voters, only about 200 voted in favor of the RAD, while more
than twice that number voted AGAINST the RAD – but since those voting against
the RAD fell ‘just below’ the 25%
required (at 24.2% -- just eight/tens of a person short!) – BINGO, the RAD can
now be approved by the ‘THREE STOOGES’ on the county commission!
Does anyone wish to guess just how
the ‘THREE
STOOGES’ on the county commission will vote at the 19 August
meeting? IF
they had any brains or guts, they would vote NO for at least a year to see just
how things develop between now & then since there is much confusion at this
point – BUT – Don’t guess, it’s a foregone fact,
lame-duck David Fleming needs a job
come January so he has already positioned himself on his knees ‘bootlicking’ SMI while praising the new
‘corporate-fascist-RAD’! And since Bill Beard, Jr. only knows the
derrière of cows, he too will grovel next to Fleming! And as for dear-ole Jamie Walker, if he’s
told that Snowshoe-RAD ‘might’, just ‘might’, let him chase little black
bears around the mountain – then he too will grovel and kiss as many collective-
derrières as necessary along with Fleming & Beard!
THAT’S WHY…
On 04 NOVEMBER…there’s no excuse…
IT’S YOUR
CHOICE…
TO CHANGE THINGS FOR THE BETTER!
Just say ‘NO’ to
those who want to keep this county in Poverty & Pauperism
– and –
Just say ‘YES’ to
real Progress
& Prosperity for the future!
